Office Air Conditioning Upgrade

22 July 2016

An Accountancy company have a medium sized office in Braunston. Their existing Air Conditioning system had been well used and needed replacing. Bright Green were asked to remove 3 Sharp Split type Air Condition units and replace with 3 Mitsubishi 2.5kw heating and cooling Split units.

The Solution

Mitsubishi Bright Green attended the offices to assess the existing location and refrigerant pipework of the old units.

It was established that the old units contained R22 refrigerant which would need to be recovered and disposed of and new R410a refrigerant added, the outdoor and indoor units could be installed in the existing positions, with the outdoor units being installed onto the roof of the building, however the pipe work would and insulation would all need replacing and an extra communication cable put in for each unit.

The Installation

Mitsubishi Air Con Bright Green would need to work around the employees of the busy office and ensure there was minimal disruption.

The installation began with the de-commissioning of the old units. Firstly, all units were isolated electrically, then weighing and recovering the R22 refrigerant correctly.

Once all units were disconnected electrically and all refrigerant was recovered, the team could remove all existing units and replace them with the new ones.

All pipe work and insulation was removed and replaced with 1/4’ and 3/8’ pipe, which was brazed, connected and evacuated to ensure there was no moisture present. The communication cables were also put in and connected along with the main supply.

Once all connections were made the system was strength tested and pressure tested up to 40bar, once the team were satisfied with the tests the extra R410a refrigerant could be added depending on the length of pipe for each unit.

The Benefits

Mitsubishi Air Con All employees are extremely happy that they have a new heating and cooling system and have told the team they are working a lot better than the old units.

Bright Green have since been told that the office management are glad that they decided to change the units pro-actively rather than re-actively in the near future.
